Making Waves, the Hamline University social justice theatre troupe, has been working with the Saint Paul Police Department to train the officers in de-escalation. The new project has been covered by the Star Tribune, Pioneer Press, and KARE 11.

Bart D. Ehrman, best-selling author and distinguished professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, will give a public lecture titled Misquoting Jesus: Scribes Who Changed the Scriptures and Readers Who May Never Know at Hamline. The event is free and open to the public on Thursday, April 20 from 7-9 p.m. in Sundin Music Hall.

A group of 36 Hamline students are in Memphis, Tennessee to present their collaborative research at the 31st annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR). Students present original research with topics spanning across a variety of disciplines and programs, from social justice to business, and biology to history.

Minnesota Campus Compact has announced Hamline's winners of the Presidents' Student Leadership Award, Presidents' Civic Engagement Award, and Presidents' Community Partner Award. These awards recognize effective leaders in the development of campus-community partnerships. Hamline's award winners are Farhiya Ali, the Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force, and Tom Fitzpatrick.

Hamline University is honored to announce that Conner Suddick, a second year legal studies and social justice double major, was named a 2017 Newman Civic Fellow. The Fellowship is presented by Campus Compact, a national coalition of 1,000 colleges and universities dedicated to advancing the public purposes of higher education.
